BotDesk AI Chat adds your BotDesk AI receptionist to your WordPress site. BotDesk answers your visitors’ questions and, on paid plans, captures the leads and booking requests you’d otherwise miss. It learns your business from your own website in about five minutes. When you’re closed, busy, or asleep, it keeps replying so a customer with a question doesn’t bounce to a competitor.
This plugin connects your WordPress site to your BotDesk account. You paste your BotDesk site key once, and the widget appears on the front end of your site. There is nothing to code.

- Captures the visitor’s name, phone, and email along with what they asked, and emails it to you (paid plans).

How it works
This is a companion plugin for the hosted BotDesk service at botdesk.studio. You need a BotDesk account and its site key. The plugin injects the official BotDesk widget script (https://botdesk.studio/widget.js) into your site’s footer with your key. It does not make any server-side calls of its own. The widget loads in the visitor’s browser exactly as BotDesk’s standard one-line embed does.

Third-Party Service Disclosure
This plugin relies on the BotDesk service, a third-party hosted product. When a visitor loads a page on your site, their browser loads the BotDesk widget script from https://botdesk.studio/widget.js, and chat messages the visitor sends are processed by BotDesk to generate replies. No data is sent by this plugin from your server; all communication is between the visitor’s browser and BotDesk.

Installation
- Install and activate the plugin.
- Go to Settings BotDesk.
- Paste your BotDesk key into API key. Find it in your BotDesk dashboard: open the Install tab, then Site key, and click Copy.
- Make sure Show widget is checked, and save.
- Visit your site. The chat button appears in the corner.

Do I need a BotDesk account?

Yes. BotDesk is a hosted service. This plugin connects your site to your BotDesk account using your site key. You can start free at botdesk.studio.

Where do I find my key?

In your BotDesk dashboard, open the Install tab, then Site key, and click Copy. It starts with
bd_. It is the same value asdata-api-keyin your install code. -
Will this slow down my site?

The widget loads a single small script in your footer. It does not run any code on your server.

How do I remove the widget temporarily?

Uncheck Show widget on the settings page, or deactivate the plugin.

Does the plugin collect any data?

No. The plugin only stores your API key in your site’s options and prints the widget script. All chat data is handled by the BotDesk service in the visitor’s browser.
